What Makes an Offer Conditional

An offer of admission sent to an Ontario Grade 12 applicant is conditional because your final marks do not exist yet when the university makes the decision. An early offer and a conditional offer are not two different things, an early offer is simply a conditional offer made on partial information earlier in the year. Every offer tied to a Grade 12 application carries conditions until your final transcript confirms them, regardless of when in the cycle it arrived.

Protecting an Offer You Already Have

Keep working at the level your offer was based on through the rest of Grade 12. A drop across multiple courses is far more likely to trigger a problem than a single course landing a few points under target. If you know a specific course is going to fall short, reach out to the university's admissions office before your final marks are sent, not after.

Placement and Licensing-Track Programs Sometimes Add Non-Academic Conditions

Programs that lead into a regulated profession, such as nursing, education, or programs involving a work placement, sometimes attach non-academic conditions to an offer beyond your grades, such as a vulnerable sector or criminal record check, immunization records, or a placement readiness form. These conditions run on their own process and deadline, separate from your academic condition check. Conditional vs Unconditional Offers

An unconditional offer, sometimes issued to mature or transfer applicants with a complete, verified academic record already on file, has no outstanding terms attached.
