Civil engineering, for example, operates under Republic Act 544, which sets out the subjects the exam covers and requires every applicant for registration to pass a technical examination, while the precise passing computation is left to the Board's own resolutions. The same pattern holds across most of the other engineering fields: the statute sets the framework, and the Board fills in the exact scoring rule.
CHED recognition: the floor every program must clear
Before you get to pass rates at all, check whether the specific engineering program carries a Certificate of Program Compliance or government recognition from the Commission on Higher Education . CHED sets Policies, Standards and Guidelines for each engineering discipline, and a program that does not meet them cannot have its graduates sit the PRC boards in that field in the first place. Recognition is a baseline requirement, not a mark of distinction, so treat it as a prerequisite to check off rather than a differentiator between two already-recognized programs.
Above that floor, some engineering programs pursue voluntary accreditation from recognized accrediting agencies, often tied to the professional organizations grouped under the Philippine Technological Council. Exam frequency also differs by discipline, with some boards convening annually and others more often, so confirm the exact schedule for the specific engineering field you are targeting rather than assuming every discipline follows the same calendar. A pass rate published for one exam window in one discipline is not directly comparable to a different discipline's most recent window if the two ran months apart under different conditions.
What each discipline's exam actually covers

Visit or ask about laboratory and workshop facilities, since hands-on equipment matters for your engineering training beyond what any board exam measures. Finally, ask whether faculty include PRC-licensed engineers with active practice experience, since that mix of teaching and field experience shapes how well a program prepares you for the exam and for the job that follows it.
