By Muntasir Minhaz • Published Aug 08, 2026 • Graduate & Professional School
Each test has its own online account and portal: ETS for the GRE, mba.com for the GMAT, LSAC for the LSAT, and AAMC for the MCAT. Fees run from about $249 for the GRE up to $355 for the MCAT, and all four require a valid government photo ID that matches your registration name exactly.
🎓 GRE: $249 outside China, register through your ETS account
💵 LSAT: $253, includes LSAT Argumentative Writing, register at lsac.org
💵 MCAT: $355 standard fee, register at apps.aamc.org/mrs
GMAT Focus Edition fee varies by country, check mba.com for your local price
⏱️ Reschedule and cancel fees rise the closer you get to your test date on every test
GRE: register through ETS
Create an account at ets.org and choose the GRE General Test, either at a test center or the at-home version. Pick a date and location, then pay the registration fee, which is $249 outside China.
Bring one form of primary, government-issued photo ID that matches the name on your registration exactly. ID requirements vary by test location and citizenship, so check ETS's ID policy for your country before test day.
Change your test center for a $55 fee if your plans change. Score reports are handled separately once your scores post, through ETS's ScoreSelect tool.
GMAT: register through mba.com
Create an mba.com account and choose the GMAT Focus Edition, available at a test center or online. Select your date and location during registration. Pricing depends on your country and test format, so check the current fee for your location on mba.com before you commit to a date.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID matching your registration name. Reschedule and cancellation policies also depend on how close you are to your test date, so review mba.com's current policy before you request a change.
LSAT: register through LSAC
Create an account at lsac.org and register for an LSAT administration. The fee is $253, which includes LSAT Argumentative Writing as part of the same registration, according to LSAC's fee page .
Registration windows close weeks before the test date. For example, registration for the October 2026 LSAT closes August 27, 2026, so register early rather than waiting for the deadline.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. If you need to change your test date, LSAC charges a fee that ranges from no charge up to the full $253 depending on how close you are to your original date.
MCAT: register through AAMC
Create an AAMC account and register through AAMC's official registration system at apps.aamc.org/mrs . Registration for all January through September 2026 MCAT dates is open now. The standard registration fee is $355, and the AAMC Fee Assistance Program reduces it to $145 for applicants who qualify, per AAMC's fee schedule . International examinees pay an additional non-refundable $130.
Schedule your exam at least 10 days before your test date, since AAMC does not allow any changes inside that window. Reschedule fees rise the closer you are to your date: $55 if you reschedule 60 or more days out, $110 between 30 and 59 days out, and $210 between 10 and 29 days out.
Cancelling gets you a $175 refund at 60 or more days and 30 to 59 days out, and no refund inside 30 days. Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID that matches your AAMC ID exactly.
Before you register for any of them
Check the ID policy for your specific test and location before you pick a date, since requirements differ by country and by whether you test at a center or at home. Confirm your target programs' application deadlines first, then work backward to a test date that leaves time for scores to post and reach schools. Testing earlier than needed gives you room to retake a test if your score comes in lower than expected.
