English Language Shortcut

US Pathways: KCSE Plus SAT and Essays

US universities admit Kenyan applicants directly from KCSE but ask for the SAT or ACT, a personal essay, recommendation letters, and TOEFL or IELTS. The KCSE mean grade is converted to the US 4.0 GPA scale during evaluation, with grade A mapping to a high GPA.

KenSAP: The Main Aid Route to Top US Schools

KenSAP guides high-achieving, low-income Kenyan KCSE graduates through the US application process and houses them with instructors at a residential centre for about 15 weeks of free SAT prep and essay coaching, per the KenSAP application page .

KenSAP eligibility for the 2025 cohort:
