What Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy Is
Khan Academy runs the official free SAT practice program built with College Board , the organization that owns the SAT. You do not pay for any of it. The program pulls in your real test data once you connect your accounts, then builds practice around what you actually got wrong.
This matters because generic prep books cover every topic equally. Your Khan Academy plan skips what you already know and spends more time on your weak spots, so your study hours go further.
Getting Started on Khan Academy
Go to khanacademy.org/digital-sat and create a free account if you do not already have one. Khan Academy no longer imports scores from your College Board account for the Digital SAT, since account linking was retired with the paper-and-pencil SAT in December 2023. Instead, take the short in-app diagnostic quiz and Khan Academy builds your starting practice plan from those results.
How the Personalized Practice Plan Works
After you finish the diagnostic quiz, Khan Academy sorts your performance across Reading and Writing and Math into specific skills and content domains. It flags the areas where you missed the most points and builds a practice plan that leads with those skills first.
As you answer practice questions, the plan adjusts. Skills you get right repeatedly drop in priority. Skills you keep missing get more questions and more linked video lessons until your accuracy improves.
The diagnostic quiz works the same whether or not you have taken a PSAT or SAT before, so you can start building a plan right away.
What You Get for Free
The practice ecosystem stretches across a few official tools that work together.
| Resource | What it offers | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Khan Academy practice | Personalized skill practice, video lessons, and progress tracking tied to your scores | khanacademy.org |
| Bluebook app | Full-length adaptive practice tests in the same format as the real digital SAT | bluebook.collegeboard.org |
| My Practice / Question Bank | Real official SAT and PSAT questions organized by content domain, with score reports and explanations | College Board practice hub |
| Schoolhouse.world tutoring | Free live SAT tutoring and bootcamps led by peer tutors, run with College Board | schoolhouse.world |
On the College Board side, you can also build custom quizzes of up to 80 questions sorted by content domain, then review a score report with answer explanations for every question you get wrong.
Getting the Most Out of Your Practice
Take the diagnostic quiz and a full-length practice test in Bluebook early so your plan has real data to work from, not just guesses.
Set a weekly practice target instead of cramming before test day. Spreading out practice sessions helps skills stick.
Watch the linked video lesson every time you miss a question type more than once, instead of just retrying similar questions.
Retake a full-length Bluebook practice test every few weeks to track your score trend and reset your plan.
Pair Khan Academy practice with a Schoolhouse.world session if you want a tutor to walk through your mistakes with you.
Because every piece of this system connects to your practice results, the plan keeps updating as you improve. You do not need to buy a separate prep course to get structured, targeted SAT practice.
