Three Afirmasi Tracks Under LPDP

LPDP Afirmasi exists because a standard competitive scholarship still shuts out students who face structural disadvantages: growing up in a region with few schools, living with a disability, or spending years teaching inside a pesantren instead of building an academic CV. The Afirmasi tracks keep LPDP's academic bar but adjust the entry requirements so these groups can compete on fairer terms.

Daerah Afirmasi: For Students From 3T Regions

This track targets Indonesians from daerah tertinggal, terdepan, dan terluar, the country's disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions, known collectively as 3T. For the 2025 cycle, LPDP named 127 designated regions spread across 25 provinces .

To qualify, you prove your domicile in one of these regions using your KTP, KK (family card), a letter from your village or district head, or a diploma from a primary or secondary school located there. Penyandang Disabilitas: For Applicants With Disabilities

LPDP's disability track opens the same scholarship funding to applicants with a physical, sensory, intellectual, or mental disability. You submit a certificate from a doctor or a relevant institution confirming your condition alongside your standard application documents. Funding and academic requirements otherwise follow the same structure as LPDP's regular scholarship.

Beasiswa Santri: For Pesantren Educators, Not Every Graduate

This track is narrower than it sounds. It is not open to any pesantren alumnus. It targets people who have worked as a teacher or staff member inside a pondok pesantren, or in a religious education unit run by one, for at least the past three years.

To apply, you need a signed statement from the pesantren's pimpinan (leader) confirming your years of service, plus your S1 or S2 diploma (or a Surat Keterangan Lulus if your diploma has not been issued yet). The track funds S2 and S3 study, letting experienced pesantren educators upgrade their qualifications without giving up years of income to compete against fresh graduates on a standard track.

Registration Windows Change Every Year

In the 2025 cycle, LPDP Afirmasi opened in two phases: Tahap I ran from 17 January to 17 February 2025, and Tahap II ran from 30 June to 31 July 2025. These dates shift each year, so check the official LPDP Afirmasi page for the current cycle before you plan your application timeline.

What Stays the Same as Regular LPDP

Once accepted, Afirmasi awardees receive the same benefit package as regular LPDP scholars: tuition and registration fees, a book and seminar allowance, journal access costs, monthly living costs, transportation, visa application support, and health insurance. The relaxed entry requirements apply to eligibility, not to the value of the scholarship itself.

Choosing the Right Track

Apply under Daerah Afirmasi only if your KTP or KK domicile genuinely matches a listed region. Apply under the disability track only with proper medical documentation ready. Apply under Beasiswa Santri only if you meet the three-year pesantren service requirement, since a fresh pesantren graduate without teaching experience there does not qualify for this specific track and should look at LPDP's regular scholarship or other pathways instead.
