Mohammed V University in Rabat (UM5) groups 13 training institutions under one umbrella, from open faculties to selective schools. Admission for new baccalaureat holders runs through UM5's own online preinscription platform , the Bureau d'Admission en Ligne, rather than a single application form per faculty.
Two Access Types: Open and Regulated
Moroccan public higher education splits into open access (acces ouvert) and regulated access (acces regule) establishments, and UM5 includes both types.
Open-access faculties, such as the Faculte des Sciences, the Faculte des Lettres et des Sciences Humaines, and the Faculte des Sciences Juridiques, Economiques et Sociales, admit baccalaureat holders directly based on their series and mention. There is no competitive ranking process for these faculties, so meeting the subject and mention requirements for your intended field is generally enough to register.
Regulated-access institutions, including engineering schools, business schools, and doctorate-level medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry programmes, review each applicant's baccalaureat grades and mention competitively against a limited number of places. Some regulated-access institutions add a written test or interview on top of the file review.
How to Apply Through the Online Preinscription Platform
- Hold a baccalaureat diploma or a recognized equivalent in the year you register.
- Create your account on UM5's online admission bureau during the announced preinscription period.
- Select the UM5 institutions and programmes you want to apply to. Apply to up to 3 programmes at a given institution, and to as many different UM5 institutions as you want.
- For open-access faculties, complete registration once your file matches the entry conditions for your series.
- For regulated-access institutions, submit your file for competitive review and, where required, sit any additional test or interview during the announced dates.
UM5 publishes a FAQ document each cycle covering common preinscription questions, worth checking before you apply since procedures and deadlines shift slightly between years.
After Preinscription
Preinscription confirms your eligibility to register, not your final enrollment. Complete physical registration at your assigned UM5 institution within its published deadline, submitting your original baccalaureat certificate and required documents, to secure your place.
