How Morocco's National Preselection Platforms Work for Grandes Ecoles and Medical Admission
By Muntasir Minhaz • Published Jun 22, 2026 • Africa Admissions & Exams
Morocco runs separate national preselection platforms for CPGE prep classes, engineering Grandes Ecoles and medical, pharmacy and dental school, and your Baccalaureat grades decide whether you clear preselection before any written exam. For medicine, pharmacy and dentistry, the 2025/26 cycle set the preselection threshold at 12/20, calculated from 75% of your national Bac exam and 25% of your regional exam.

Three separate tracks, three platforms
If you hold a Moroccan Baccalaureat and want a competitive public seat, you are looking at one of three parallel systems, and each uses its own preselection platform. CPGE, the two-year preparatory classes that feed into engineering Grandes Ecoles, recruits directly from Bac holders based on your grades. Several engineering and business schools recruit directly from the Bac too, often through their own portals or a shared national admission system coordinated by the Ministry of Higher Education. Medicine, pharmacy and dental medicine sit on a separate national platform, cursussup.gov.ma, with a common national exam behind it.
None of these tracks let you enroll with your Bac certificate alone. Each starts with a preselection stage based on your grades, and only preselected candidates move to the next step, whether that is a written exam, an interview, or direct ranking.
How medicine, pharmacy and dentistry preselection works
The most clearly documented process is the common entry route for medicine, pharmacy and dental medicine, managed through cursussup.gov.ma. Your preselection score combines your national Baccalaureat exam result, weighted at 75%, with your regional exam result, weighted at 25%. For the 2025/26 cycle, the Ministry set the minimum preselection score at 12 out of 20, down from 13/20 the previous cycle, according to Dreamjob.ma .
Clearing preselection only qualifies you to sit the national written exam, the Concours Commun d'Acces aux Formations de Medecine, Medecine Dentaire et Pharmacie. For the 2025 session, that exam ran on July 19, 2025, with around 6,511 seats available across participating faculties nationwide, according to Morocco's Ministry of Higher Education. Final placement combines your written exam score with the ranking of your faculty choices on the platform and the number of seats each participating faculty has that year, so a strong exam score still needs a realistic choice order behind it.
How CPGE and engineering school preselection works
CPGE preselection runs on your Baccalaureat average, with particular weight on math, physics and language grades for scientific tracks and on economics and quantitative subjects for economics-track CPGE. Because CPGE seats are limited and demand from top Bac graduates is high, competition concentrates around students with the strongest overall averages, though the exact minimum shifts by CPGE track and by school each year.
Some engineering and management Grandes Ecoles recruit directly from the Baccalaureat rather than through CPGE, using their own preselection based on your Bac average and sometimes a subject-specific entrance exam. These direct-entry schools publish their own preselection deadlines and required documents separately from the CPGE and medical tracks, so check each target school's own portal for its specific process and calendar.
What happens after preselection: results and waiting lists
Once results are out, whether for CPGE, an engineering school or the medical common exam, admitted students confirm their seat within a set window. If you do not confirm in time, your seat passes to the next-ranked candidate on the waiting list for that program. Waiting lists move as confirmed students from higher preferences drop lower-ranked offers, so check your status on the relevant platform regularly during the confirmation period rather than assuming a first-round rejection is final.
If you miss preselection on your first-choice track, most tracks reopen a second admission round once initial waiting lists are exhausted, though available seats by that stage are limited. Confirm second-round timing directly with the platform or school, since it is not guaranteed every year.
Choosing which track to pursue
Decide your target track before results are out, since CPGE, direct-entry engineering schools and the medical common exam each demand a different preparation focus even though all three start from your Baccalaureat grades. If you are aiming for CPGE or direct-entry engineering, prioritize consistent strength in math and physics across your final Bac years. If you are aiming for medicine, pharmacy or dentistry, your national and regional Bac exam scores under the 75/25 weighting matter more than any single subject.
Keep your Baccalaureat transcript, national ID and passport photos ready before each platform opens, and register on more than one platform if you qualify, since preselection for CPGE, direct-entry schools and cursussup.gov.ma run on separate calendars. Missing one platform's window does not affect your eligibility on another.
