OFPPT Vocational Training Institutes in Morocco: Programs and Admission

OFPPT runs Morocco's largest public vocational training network, with four qualification levels that admit students at different stages after primary school or after the baccalauréat.
🎓 OFPPT stands for Office de la Formation Professionnelle et de la Promotion du Travail.
Four levels exist: Spécialisation, Qualification, Technicien and Technicien Spécialisé.
Technicien Spécialisé is the highest level and needs a baccalauréat to enter.
Training happens at ISTA institutes and sector academies built with industry partners.
Applications go through OFPPT's online portal, with selection based on school records and sometimes a test.
What OFPPT is
The Office de la Formation Professionnelle et de la Promotion du Travail (OFPPT ) is Morocco's main public operator for vocational and technical training. It runs a national network of institutes, from general technical institutes known as Instituts Spécialisés de Technologie Appliquée (ISTA) to sector academies built with industry partners in fields such as automotive manufacturing, aeronautics, textiles and offshoring services.
OFPPT sits under Morocco's education authorities, and its programs lead to state-recognized diplomas that Moroccan employers treat as a standard credential in their own right, not a fallback for students who did not reach university.
The four OFPPT qualification levels
OFPPT organizes training into four levels, each tied to a different stage in a student's schooling and a different depth of specialization.
| Level | French name | Typical entry point |
|---|---|---|
| Specialization | Niveau Spécialisation | End of primary school |
| Qualification | Niveau Qualification | Later collège years |
| Technician | Niveau Technicien | Niveau Bac (final years of lycée) |
| Specialized Technician | Niveau Technicien Spécialisé | Baccalauréat |
Specialization and Qualification programs train students for a defined trade over a shorter period, useful for students who leave the general academic track early and want to start earning sooner. Technicien Spécialisé, the top level, takes baccalauréat holders and trains them over two years for mid-level technical and supervisory roles, comparable in weight to a BTS-style diploma in other French-system countries.
Formation types beyond the four levels
Alongside the four qualification levels, OFPPT offers different formats of training. Formation diplômante is the standard full-time route that leads to one of the four levels above. Formation qualifiante offers shorter, targeted skills training without the full diploma track, aimed at students or workers who need a specific competency quickly. OFPPT also runs cours du soir, evening classes for people who work during the day and want to add a qualification alongside their job.
How to apply
OFPPT handles applications through its online enrollment system, Myway . Students create a profile, choose a program and training center, and submit their school record for review. Selection for popular specialties and sector institutes often adds a written test or interview on top of the academic file, since demand for places in fields like IT, mechatronics and hospitality regularly exceeds the number of spots.
Check the Conditions d'accès section on the OFPPT site for the specific entry requirement of your chosen program before applying, since requirements differ by specialty even within the same level.
Fees and financial support
Regular OFPPT programs draw funding mainly from Morocco's professional training tax on employers, which keeps tuition low compared with private technical schools. OFPPT also publishes scholarship (bourses) information on its site for students who need support with living costs during training. Confirm the exact fee for your chosen program and center directly with OFPPT, since amounts and support schemes change from year to year.
OFPPT versus university
A university degree in Morocco usually takes longer and leans more on theory before specialization begins. An OFPPT program, especially at Technicien or Technicien Spécialisé level, gets a student into a defined occupation faster, with hands-on training on equipment close to what employers actually use.
The two paths connect rather than compete. Some Technicien Spécialisé graduates continue into related university programs or licence professionnelle tracks, using their OFPPT diploma as a practical foundation for further study.
Why OFPPT matters for Moroccan students
OFPPT diplomas open direct routes into sectors that recruit heavily in Morocco, including automotive manufacturing, aeronautics, tourism, textiles and business process outsourcing. Many employers in these sectors work with OFPPT to shape the curriculum, so graduates train on processes close to what they meet on the job from day one. For a student who does not want a long university path, or cannot afford one, OFPPT offers a shorter route into stable employment with a recognized qualification behind it.
