How Students Fund Higher Education in Seychelles

The University of Seychelles does not run its own scholarship fund. Instead, UniSey's student services page directs students to two main routes: the government scholarship scheme and commercial bank loans. Government of Seychelles Scholarship Scheme

The National Scholarship Scheme is administered by the Agency for National Human Resource Development (ANHRD) and applied for through the Careers and Further Education Agency (CaFEA). A full award covers tuition, airfare, a monthly stipend, and insurance, which makes it the most complete funding package available to Seychellois students.

The scheme supports undergraduate study, postgraduate study at master's and PhD level, and vocational training. Awards go to students studying in the country's designated priority areas: health, education, tourism, blue economy, agriculture, technology, and engineering. Choosing a program outside these priority fields makes it harder to secure government funding, so check the current priority list with CaFEA before you pick a course.

Bonding Requirements

Government scholarship money in Seychelles comes with an obligation, not a gift. Recipients must work for the Government of Seychelles or the Republic of Seychelles after graduating, for a bonding period set by how much the scholarship cost. Bonding runs from a minimum of two years up to a maximum of seven years. Factor this into your decision, since it affects your career choices for years after you finish studying.

Digital Transformation Scholarships
