What changed in the visa process since 2024

From 10 May 2024, the financial capacity requirement for Student (subclass 500) and Student Guardian visas is AUD 29,710 for an individual student, per Study Australia . This covers living costs alongside tuition and travel, and you need to show the funds are genuinely available to you, through bank statements, education loan documents or a sponsor's financial evidence, not just tuition-paid receipts. You also need Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the length of your visa, arranged through your university or an approved provider, and its cost sits on top of the financial capacity figure above.
