How to Apply for a TCU Change of Programme or Institution

To switch your admitted programme or university in Tanzania, cancel your current TCU selection first, then submit a fresh application through the Central Admission System for the programme or institution you actually want.
📩 Get a re-application form from the TCU website and submit it by email or post to TCU
🎓 Contact the university you want to move to directly, since each institution handles incoming transfer requests differently
⏱️ Apply during an active selection round while places remain, not after the intake has closed
TCU does not recognize agents or intermediaries in this process
When you can change your programme or institution
You get placed into a bachelor's programme through the Tanzania Commission for Universities Central Admission System (CAS), but placement is not final if the programme or university does not suit you. TCU allows admitted applicants to request a change of programme or institution, provided you act while a selection round is still active and before you have completed physical registration at your current institution.
Common reasons students request a change include being placed into a second or third choice programme instead of their preferred one, wanting to move closer to home, or discovering after placement that a different university offers stronger facilities or lower fees for the same course.
Step 1: Cancel your current selection
Before applying for a different programme or institution, cancel your existing TCU selection. You cannot hold two active placements at once, so this step comes first. Log into your CAS account and follow the cancellation option, or contact TCU directly if the portal does not show one for your case.
Step 2: Get the re-application form
TCU publishes a re-application form on its website. Download it, fill in your details, your current placement, and the programme or institution you want instead, then submit it through the email address or postal address TCU lists for this purpose. Keep a copy of everything you submit, including proof of submission, in case you need to follow up.
Step 3: Confirm with the receiving institution
If you are moving to a different university rather than just a different programme at the same institution, contact the receiving university's admissions or registrar office before you finalize anything with TCU. Each institution sets its own procedure for accepting transfer or change-of-institution requests, and some ask for additional documents or an internal application on top of the TCU process.
Timing matters
Submit your change request while TCU's selection process for that academic year is still running.
Once TCU closes the admission cycle and universities finish registering their new students, places fill up and a change becomes far harder to secure. Watch the official TCU website for the current cycle's dates rather than relying on the previous year's timeline, since the exact windows shift each year.
Avoid intermediaries
TCU states plainly that it does not recognize agents, brokers, or any individual or company claiming to speed up or guarantee a change of programme or institution. Handle the cancellation and re-application yourself through the official CAS portal and TCU's listed contact channels. If you have questions about your specific case, check the TCU FAQ page or contact TCU directly rather than a third party.
