What the DAP procedure is for

The Demande d'Admission Prealable, DAP, is the entry route French public universities use for foreign applicants who hold a secondary diploma from outside France and are not going through Parcoursup. If you finished an Ontario, BC, Quebec or another provincial high school diploma, or a CEGEP DEC, without ever sitting the French Baccalaureat, DAP is your usual path into first-year licence rather than Parcoursup.

DAP blanche versus DAP verte

Timeline against Parcoursup

Choosing which universities to target

Not every French public university runs the same DAP intake capacity, and demand varies heavily by city and subject. Popular programs in Paris, Lyon and other large cities draw far more DAP applications than smaller regional universities offering the same licence subject.
