PhD in Shariah (By Research)

The PhD in Shariah (By Research) is UNISSA's fully research-based doctoral degree from the Faculty of Shariah and Law, with supervision available in Arabic, English and Malay. The standard full-time length is three years, ranging from a two-year minimum to a five-year maximum; part-time study is fixed at five years, ranging from two and a half to seven. Admission requires a Master's degree from UNISSA or another institution recognised by the Senate, or an equivalent qualification combined with three years of relevant professional experience; candidates already enrolled in a UNISSA Master's programme may also progress directly if backed by the faculty and signed off by the Graduate Studies Committee, as can holders of a Bachelor's degree with First Class Honours. Every application must be accompanied by a synopsis of the candidate's proposed research. The degree carries a flat total fee of BND 12,000 and is open to international applicants through UNISSA's online system.
