Overview
The Mondes modernes track of the History master trains students in historical research through the discipline's methods, source exploration and a quality dissertation. It emphasises mastering exhaustive, specialised bibliographies, conducting historiographical enquiries and building rigorous research questions.
Students work in research libraries and archives, especially in Paris but also in the regions and abroad. They learn to argue clearly in writing and orally, and they build a broad general culture. One dissertation is written in the second year and requires a large scope and strong command of writing.
