The programme fuses chemistry, biology, microbiology and biochemistry with mathematics, covering the conversion of raw materials into practical forms and allowing specialisation in areas such as petrochemical production, bio-diesel production, refining and nanotechnology. Core technical content spans thermodynamics, separation processes, mass and heat transfer, material and energy balances, fluid flows, material handling, chemical reaction design, environmental engineering and petroleum refining, alongside management skills aligned with industry needs. Students undertake industrial training under a co-operative placement scheme at the end of the second and third academic years, supported by industry visits, guest talks from professional bodies, laboratory work and plant design projects.
