The project-based programme places design at its core, alongside focus areas in technology and environment, architectural management, and cultural context and communication. Graduate students work alongside local agencies, developers and other relevant bodies on industry projects ranging from public and social housing through to commercial developments, overseen by experienced academics, with the aim of readying them to operate independently, largely without supervision, on their design thesis. A course in Building Information Modelling covers the collaborative design of buildings using an integrated system of computer models, used to tackle and simplify complex design problems with modern technology. Study takes place through a dedicated studio environment alongside lectures, seminars, and scholarly research and writing, with students expected to review and appraise case studies and surveys tied to national and global concerns in architecture. Admission requires a completed three-year undergraduate professional architecture programme, and the degree is delivered full-time.
