Bachelor of Science (Honours) Software Engineering

Software engineering is presented as a field concerned with the full life cycle of software, from design and implementation through to modification and maintenance, handled in a systematic, measurable way and drawing on principles from traditional engineering disciplines to produce software that is higher quality, cheaper, more efficient and easier to maintain. The course covers techniques, principles and tools across software design, testing, processes and requirements engineering, with instruction in advanced programming across a range of development languages to connect theory with hands-on development work. It also covers communication and network technologies relevant to the field, such as the internet and mobile networks, aiming to produce graduates able to apply current techniques and methods across the software life cycle and across the varied domains where large, complex systems are deployed.
