Undergraduate Higher Diploma in Geology

Developed with input from the Malta Chamber of Geologists, this Higher Diploma gives an advanced look at the Earth's materials, structures and dynamic processes. Mineralogy, sedimentology, structural geology and geophysics anchor the syllabus, backed by substantial laboratory and fieldwork components so students build hands-on skills in mapping, sample analysis and data interpretation rather than purely classroom knowledge. At 120 ECTS, it is the largest of IDEA's geology awards and is aimed at graduates heading into environmental consulting, resource management or geological research, as well as those planning further academic study in the earth sciences. Set at MQF Level 5, the course runs full-time over about fifteen months or part-time over twenty-five. Entry requires a related MQF Level 4 qualification, or one A-Level in a science subject, plus English and Mathematics at MQF Level 3.
