Introductory Certificate in Hairdressing

This one-year, full-time entry-level course is designed for learners who have just finished compulsory schooling with basic qualifications and want to start a career in hairdressing. Teaching introduces the equipment and products typically used in hairdressing salons, alongside customer care, communication skills, professional conduct, window-dressing, and personal presentation. The course combines basic hairdressing theory with practical sessions, and also helps learners strengthen their core employability skills in a way that connects directly to the vocational content. Students are required to buy their own hairdressing and beauty kit at the start of the year. The course is intended as a first step into the hairdressing sector rather than a direct route to employment, preparing learners to progress onto MCAST's higher hairdressing qualifications.
