Program details

Overview

This one-year, full-time entry-level course introduces learners to the fast-moving ICT sector, covering the basic skills needed to work with computer systems and the fundamentals of programming. Students learn to recognise a computer system's main components, understand the stages involved in designing software, and gain practical experience installing hardware. The course also builds foundational skills in designing simple algorithms and writing basic computer programmes, giving learners the grounding they need before moving on to more advanced ICT study. It is aimed at students who have just finished compulsory schooling and is intended as a first step into technical education, preparing graduates to progress onto higher MCAST qualifications in computing rather than enter direct employment at this stage.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Open to applicants who have finished compulsory education as shown by an official School Leaving Certificate/SSCP/SSQP. Initial Assessment Tests may apply where relevant.
