PhD in Linguistics

The Linguistics doctorate advances research training and the production of knowledge in specialised areas of linguistics. Activities are grounded in the research lines of two FCT-accredited R&D centres at the University of Évora, CEL-UÉ and CIDEHUS-UÉ. Students build skills in research methodology and practice, and in designing and carrying out original research that meets academic quality and integrity standards. The programme also aims to transfer the knowledge produced to the academic community and to society. It is taught in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish over six semesters and 180 ECTS, with 18 ECTS of compulsory units and 12 ECTS of optional units. Applicants hold a master's degree or equivalent, or a licenciatura with a scientific or academic record recognised by the competent body. The award is a doctorate in Linguistics.
