This bachelor's programme in Physics, run by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is a three-year academic course split into a Bachelor-I phase (one nominal year, two maximum) and a Bachelor-II phase (two nominal years, five maximum in total). It prepares graduates either to enter work immediately, in business, government or education, or to continue to a master's and eventually doctoral level, and particularly suits students wanting a broad understanding of physical theories and processes.
Accreditation was largely completed by March 2020, but the COVID-19 crisis forced a postponement, and as of August 2020 there was still no timeline for resuming it. In late 2019, the University of Twente's admissions committee evaluated the programme and, in a letter dated 13 December 2019, confirmed that a completed bachelor's in Physics here gives direct admissibility to its own master's in Applied Physics.
Admission requires a VWO diploma (science package) or equivalent, with at least a 6 in both Physics and Mathematics I. Intake is capped at 15 students, and the degree carries 180 ECTS credits.
