Master of Accounting

The Master of Accounting (MoA) is a 2.5-year, in-class programme worth 70 ECTs, run by FHR's School of Management and Accounting with the University of Maastricht (UM), located in the Netherlands. It is aimed at accounting practitioners as well as future managers and controllers. The programme starts from the view that a sound accounting profession matters for a country's wider economy, supporting growth, efficient allocation of resources, comparable financial reporting, and investor confidence, and that Suriname's financial system still lacks some of the building blocks of an established accounting profession, such as strong regulation, a strong professional body, and enough skilled financial staff. To address this, the curriculum builds in IFRS principles and standards, with the goal of training accounting professionals who can apply that knowledge for the benefit of their organizations and the wider public.
