Overview
The Bachelor's in Civil Engineering starts with mathematics, natural sciences and basic engineering knowledge, and expands these core competences to lay the foundations for the Master's degree. Civil engineers plan infrastructure such as bridges, tunnels, power plants and road and rail networks, with attention to function, cost and maintenance.
The curriculum includes general basic courses such as mathematics, mechanics and physics, followed by subject-specific fundamentals, project work, field courses and a Bachelor's thesis. Graduates work in engineering offices, construction companies, federal, cantonal and municipal authorities, power and transport companies, and research. The degree is 180 credits.
