PGCert in Bible/Biblical Studies

The Biblical Studies Certificate at Bethel emphasizes foundational study of the Bible. It aims to deepen faith and comprehension and to prepare people for teaching and leadership in congregations. Participants complete three required courses totaling 12 credits. All must be taken at Bethel, only courses taken for credit apply, and coursework from other institutions does not transfer. Bethel recommends taking an additional introductory course. Students who later enter a Bethel degree program may receive credit for the certificate courses where they apply. Outcomes include biblical content knowledge, interpretation skills, exegesis and intercultural competence. Students considering this program should read the catalog entry for the full list of courses, admission steps and graduation standards. Bethel's graduate school also publishes general admission rules that apply alongside the requirements of each program, and applicants are advised to review both before applying so that they understand what is expected.
