PGCert in Education, Other

West Virginia grants teaching licenses through its Department of Education, usually after a four-year undergraduate program with content and professional education courses. This certificate gives people who already hold an undergraduate degree an accelerated route to certification. Once the program, subject coursework and required tests are done, candidates earn a recommendation to the state for a secondary-level teaching certificate. The program does not cover elementary education. Candidates need a completed undergraduate degree from an accredited school. Details on required courses and admission procedures are listed in the graduate catalog. Prospective students should review those sections, contact the program coordinator with questions about fit and timing, and apply through the graduate admissions office. Certificate work can often support a later degree or a change in professional practice.
