Program details

Overview

The Cell Biology and Neuroscience major is a bachelor of science that builds a base across cell biology, nervous system science, physiology and how organisms develop. It suits students who plan to continue into medicine, dentistry or optometry. Undergraduates take part in hands-on research and receive mentoring from faculty who have won awards. A Health Professions Advising office helps students explore healthcare careers and prepare applications to professional schools. Because the curriculum emphasizes research and mentoring from the start, undergraduates become familiar with laboratory methods early. Past students have earned national recognition, including a public service fellowship, which reflects the engagement expected of majors in this field. The major also offers a Biomedical Science option within the major, which lets students adjust their emphasis.
