The BS in Applied Physics at the School of Engineering has students study the fundamental principles of nature while working beside engineers. The grounding in physics gives graduates flexibility, and many continue to master's study or enter fields such as law, writing, business, industry, government or education.
Students are encouraged to explore entrepreneurship, biophysics, instrumentation, electronics and computational work. Dual degrees are possible with fields such as electrical or mechanical engineering and chemistry, and a minor in Applied Physics is offered to other students.
The degree includes core physics, calculus and mathematics, laboratory work, a senior project, and electives in humanities and social sciences. Undergraduate applications are handled by NYU's central admissions office.
The NYU Bulletin page for this degree sets out the course list with credit values and a sample plan of study, so prospective students can see how the requirements fit together before they apply.
