Overview

The MA in International Relations trains candidates for careers in international affairs through a curriculum grounded in scholarship. It treats international relations as a subject to be studied from several disciplinary perspectives and methods, drawing on scholars from the arts and science graduate school, the law school, Stern and Wagner. The program totals 40 credits, including at least 8 credits of international relations electives and 12 credits of general graduate electives approved by the director. It also hosts events with scholars and practitioners. A dual degree with NYU Wagner combines the MA with a master's in international development policy. Prospective students can consult the university bulletin page for the full list of required courses, the structure of the degree and the application steps set by the school. Advisers in the department help students plan their courses, choose among available options and prepare for their next step after graduation.
