AA/AS in Biology, General

The Associate in Science in Biology for Transfer at Santa Ana College prepares students to move into a four-year program toward a bachelor's degree in Biology or a similar major. It gives students the foundation for upper-division biology coursework. Students develop understanding of biological principles, apply scientific methods to analyze data, and practice laboratory techniques, with grounding in areas such as genetics, ecology and microbiology. The degree is a starting point for careers in biological and biomedical sciences, healthcare, research, consulting and government work. This is an associate-level program at a public community college, so it can serve students who plan to enter the workforce as well as those continuing to a four-year university. The college page links a program map and a catalog entry for planning courses, and students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm how the degree fits their goals.
