Overview

The special education division at TWU provides a pair of master's degrees plus a post-master's route to diagnostician certification. All of them target teachers and researchers who serve learners with exceptionalities. One master's option does not lead to teaching certification, while the other adds educational diagnostician certification. Students can build research skills, become expert teachers in particular exceptionality areas and finish ready to deliver instruction grounded in evidence. Admission calls for a minimum GPA over the final undergraduate hours, a resume, a statement of intent, a current teaching certificate and a record of teaching service. Diagnostician applicants also need several years as a full-time teacher of record, and a TOEFL result applies if their bachelor's came from a country the state does not accept. Applications are due before each term begins.
