Program details

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science focuses on how people communicate with computers. Students learn programming languages including C++ and Java and then apply them to build practical tools and software. The program is housed in the R.B. Annis School of Engineering and is supported by ABET accreditation information published by the department. Class sizes are small, which allows regular contact with professors, and electives let students concentrate on topics that interest them, such as web interface development with HTML, CSS and ReactJS. Curriculum guides list the major requirements alongside the general education core so students can plan their studies. A computer science minor and a data science minor are also available for students in other majors, and the field is described as pairing well with engineering or mathematics. Graduates enter software and technology careers or continue to graduate study.
