BA/BS in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical/Space Engineering

Aerospace engineering at Virginia Tech teaches how aircraft and spacecraft fly and are built. Core subject areas include airflow, flight behavior and control, propulsion systems and the structures of vehicles. A senior-year design sequence has students analyze and design aircraft, spacecraft and related technologies, and it is recognized nationally. Because much of the coursework overlaps with ocean engineering, students interested in both fields can complete a combined major. New students who want to study aerospace engineering first apply to the general engineering program.
