Biology for Transfer, an associate of science degree aimed at students who plan to pursue a bachelor of science in the biological sciences at a California State University. Biology is the study of living organisms, from structure and function to growth, development, origin and evolution. The field spans biochemistry, botany, cellular and molecular biology, ecology, genetics, anatomy, physiology and the study of animals. The transfer coursework may meet lower-division requirements for the major. The degree guarantees admission to the state university system but not to a specific campus. Many sections run in fall and spring, with some biology courses in winter and spring. Students who finish the program and meet the general education and grade point conditions can move on toward a bachelor's degree. Counselors and the Transfer Center help each student plan courses around the target university.
