Overview
The biology major explores living systems, both human and non-human, in the laboratory and the field. Students work with Christian professors in a setting that includes mountains, coastline and the Channel Islands.
Coursework and independent research build laboratory techniques and field methods, and some students conduct advanced research with faculty. The bachelor of science offers a general track, a cellular and molecular track, and an environmental track focused on natural history.
Professors discuss how biology intersects with faith, ethics and culture. The major also serves as a foundation for pre-health plans, and off-campus options include programs in Uganda, Costa Rica, Belize and elsewhere.
Alumni have entered doctoral and medical research programs, and many pursue careers in laboratory, environmental, biotechnology and health fields. Personal attention from faculty supports students preparing for graduate study.
