AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

This associate degree in accounting is offered by the Williamson College of Business Administration. It includes business tool courses and several upper-level accounting classes, and most of the credits can transfer into the bachelor's degree in business administration with an accounting major. It suits people already employed who want to advance in accounting. Graduates may work as bookkeepers, tax preparers or human resources assistants, and the degree also serves as a base for further study in business. The curriculum starts with a first-year success seminar and general education, including writing and quantitative reasoning, then moves to accounting electives such as payroll and QuickBooks topics. Total requirements are 61 to 66 semester hours. The associate level makes a sensible first step for people who may continue toward a four-year credential later, since much of the work carries forward.
