Overview
Founded 1974 as one of the five “K.A.T.E.E.” (Centres of Highest Technical Professional Education).
Became a Τechnological Educational Institution (TEI) 1983 and became officially part of the higher education system in 2001 when it became the Technologiko Ekpaideutiko Idryma Athinas (Athens University of Applied Science). Acquired current title and status in 2018 following merger with the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus (Technologiko Ekpaideutiko Idrima, Piraea).
The establishment of the newly established University Institution came through the process of merging the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus (Technologiko Ekpaideutiko Idrima, Piraea).The National School of Public Health (ESDY) was integrated into the University in 2019.
