Ontario's June 3 Deadline: How to Confirm Your Offer of Admission Correctly
By Muntasir Minhaz • Published Aug 19, 2026 • Admissions & Applications, Canadian Universities & Colleges
Ontario applicants confirm exactly one offer of admission through OUAC by June 1 each year. When June 1 falls on a weekend, the deadline shifts to the next business day, for example June 3 in 2024. Confirming a second offer after the deadline puts both at risk.

Unconfirmed offers sometimes stay open a little longer, but do not count on it
The Rule Behind the Date
OUAC sets a single, province-wide deadline for Ontario Grade 12 applicants (the 101 application) to confirm one offer of admission: June 1 each year. If June 1 lands on a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline moves to the next business day. In 2024, June 1 fell on a Saturday, which pushed that year's deadline to Monday, June 3.
The date shifts slightly year to year for this reason. Always check the specific June date attached to your own application cycle rather than assuming June 1 or June 3 automatically applies to you.
Why Only One Offer
Every Ontario university relies on this shared deadline to plan its incoming class size. If applicants held multiple confirmed offers indefinitely, universities could not tell how many seats they actually have filled.
Confirming one offer releases your other seats back into the system for other applicants, including anyone on a waitlist.
How to Confirm, Step by Step
Log into your OUAC 101 online account using the same credentials you used to apply.
Review every offer showing in your account, including conditional ones you have not fully met yet.
Select confirm on the one offer you want. Read the confirmation screen fully, since this action is what universities use to lock in your seat.
Leave your other offers alone. You do not need to actively decline them, not selecting them is enough in most cases, though some universities appreciate a courtesy decline through their own portal.
Save or screenshot your confirmation for your own records in case of a technical issue later.
What Happens to the Offers You Don't Confirm
Offers you do not confirm generally remain on file for a short period after the deadline, but universities are not obligated to hold a seat for you once you have confirmed elsewhere. Some universities release unconfirmed seats to waitlisted applicants almost immediately after the deadline passes. Do not treat an unconfirmed offer as a backup to activate later without checking directly with that university first.
If You Confirm the Wrong Offer
Mistakes happen, especially with multiple portal logins and similar looking program names. If you realize you confirmed the wrong offer, contact both universities involved as soon as possible, the one you confirmed by mistake and the one you meant to confirm.
Do not assume the system lets you switch afterward. Policies on changing a confirmed choice differ by university and by how close you are to the deadline, so speed matters more than anything else here.
If You Are Still Waiting on a Late Offer
Programs running a supplementary application, a portfolio review, or an audition sometimes send decisions close to or after the June deadline. If you are holding a confirmed offer from one school while waiting on a decision from a program like this, contact both institutions directly to understand your options rather than guessing. Some programs build a later secondary deadline into their own process specifically for this situation, but confirm that with the specific program, not by assumption.
Extensions to the Deadline
Extensions to the province-wide deadline are rare and handled individually by each university, not by OUAC as a blanket policy. If a documented circumstance is stopping you from confirming on time, contact the admissions office of the university you plan to confirm before the deadline passes, not after.
Waiting until after June 1, or the shifted date, to explain a problem puts your seat at real risk.
A Few Common Mistakes to Avoid
Waiting until deadline day to log in and confirm, when a portal slowdown sometimes leaves you locked out at the worst moment
Confirming more than one offer, thinking it keeps your options open
Assuming a verbal or emailed acceptance to a university counts as confirming through OUAC, it does not
Forgetting that a conditional offer still needs confirming by the deadline even though your final marks are not in yet
How This Deadline Interacts With Residence and Scholarships
Some university residence applications and scholarship deadlines sit close to the June admission confirmation deadline, but they typically run as separate processes with their own login and their own dates. Confirming your offer of admission does not automatically submit a residence or scholarship application. Check each specific deadline on its own page rather than assuming one confirmation covers everything.
What If You Are Still Deciding Between Two Offers
If you cannot decide by the deadline, confirm the offer you are more likely to accept rather than letting the deadline pass on all of them. Some universities allow a documented, one-time change to your confirmed choice after the deadline under specific circumstances, but this is handled individually and is not something to plan around. Contact the university directly if you find yourself needing to change a confirmed choice, and do so as early as possible.
