Calculated German Grade
German Grading Context
German universities utilize an inverted grading system where 1.0 is the highest possible performance and 4.0 is the lowest passing tier.
Official KMK Policy: Current resolution dictates that the calculated score is truncated to one decimal place; it is not rounded. Our tool strictly enforces this procedural constraint.
How The Bavarian Formula Works
The Mathematical Formula
The Modified Bavarian Formula is the standardized regulatory method approved by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (Kultusministerkonferenz) for transforming foreign GPA tiers into the German model:
- Nmax: The absolute best possible grade attainable in your system.
- Nmin: The lowest passing grade allowed to graduate.
- Nd: Your actual earned cumulative grade.
- x: Resulting German grade (values usually restricted between 1.0 and 5.0).
