Overview
The Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology covers databases, networking, software engineering, programming, web systems, systems administration, information management and human-computer interaction, training students to analyse real-world problems and to design, implement and evaluate computing-based solutions.
The programme runs over four years and comprises 134 credit hours across 45 courses, taught in English, sits at NQF level 8, and received full confidence from Bahrain's Quality Assurance Authority in 2013. Attendance is compulsory for both full-time and part-time students. Graduates are expected to communicate effectively in professional settings, work within legal and ethical boundaries, and function as members or leaders of project teams, while managing their own learning and professional development.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need a recognized secondary school certificate or equivalent, such as the Bahraini Tawjihia or an Arab Ministry of Education certificate; meeting the stated minimums does not guarantee a place. English proficiency must be shown through a recognized certificate (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL), an approved qualification such as Cambridge ESOL or City & Guilds Pitman Intermediate, or by passing Ahlia's own English placement test. Non-GCC citizens must secure a Bahrain residence permit before enrolling; admission is otherwise conditional and can be withdrawn. Programme-specific minimum secondary-school averages (commonly 50-65%) and, for some programmes, an aptitude test or interview, apply on top of these university-wide requirements.
