Overview

The User Interface (UI) Visual Design Micro-certificate is designed for emerging and practicing designers who want to elevate their digital work through more content-driven, visually dynamic work. Through exploration of visual systems, interaction design, and motion, you will learn how to craft engaging digital experiences that communicate meaning and strengthen brand identity.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The CUIF 110 programme page describes this micro-certificate as ideal for those with a foundational understanding of UI, but states no previous UI experience is required. As with other Continuing Studies courses, applicants do not need to submit English-language proficiency test scores to register.

Application Deadline: Emily Carr accepts undergraduate applications for the Fall 2027 (September 2027) intake starting 1 October 2026; the deadline to apply through EducationPlannerBC and submit transcripts is 15 January 2027, with a later 31 January 2027 deadline to upload the required portfolio through ECU's own Admissions Portal. The same dates apply to domestic and international applicants, though international admits face separate, additional study-permit timelines. Graduate programs (MFA, MDes) run a single annual Fall intake on their own cycle: applications open 1 October 2026 and close 25 January 2027, again identical for domestic and international applicants. Emily Carr publishes no rolling or continuous-admission option; all programs work to these fixed annual deadlines. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
