Gain skills and experience to become a certified athletic therapist.Program OverviewState-of-the-art educationSheridan's facilities include a new, state-of-the-art Athletic Therapy Clinic with aquatic rehab, dedicated lab space with brand new equipment and new training facilities. All educators are Certified Athletic Therapists with advanced degrees in the areas of rehabilitation sciences, biomechanics and physiology, as well as extensive experience working in the field.What you'll gain Advanced athletic therapy skills such as field assessment and injury treatment, clinical assessment and rehabilitation. Entrepreneurial business skills to help you establish a practice. Research skills to ensure you always stay current in the field. Extensive practicum experience in both clinical and field environments through our comprehensive placement program. Field placementEach year of the program includes field and/or clinical work. This will take place in a variety of settings including high school or community sports teams, varsity teams in colleges and universities, and clinical work in both the Sheridan Athletic Therapy Clinic and community clinics. You'll also have an opportunity to participate in a 14-week internship between Years 3 and 4.Become a Certified Athletic TherapistThis program is accredited by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA). Sheridan has been granted a consent by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to offer this degree for a seven-year term starting September 7, 2022 and subject to renewal thereafter. Application to the Ministry for renewal of the consent is a prescribed and cyclical requirement for degree programs at all Ontario Colleges. Sheridan will ensure that all students admitted to the program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame. Credentials earned during the period of consent remain valid, even if Ministry consent to offer the program is withdrawn in the future. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g. acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies, or other educational institutions).PBAHS
