The programme focuses on developing solutions for healthy food production while reducing environmental impact and improving animal welfare, covering genetics, biotechnology, production systems, and the interaction between agriculture and nature within a science-based, problem-solving approach. Its core is biology, viewed through perspectives on sustainability, environmental impact, animal and plant health, and product quality, with students choosing specialisations such as plant health and pest management, animal health and welfare, plant nutrition and animal nutrition, or a combination of animal and plant sciences, and able to take courses from other academic programmes given its cross-disciplinary design. Teaching builds analytical and problem-solving skills alongside research methods, balancing academic and applied skills, within a class in which international students make up roughly a third of each cohort. Graduates most often move into private-sector consultancy or R&D roles, or work for feed and supply companies, in plant and animal genetics and breeding, in plant protection, in teaching, or with authorities developing and enforcing industry regulations.
