Drawing on economics, political science, sociology, anthropology and law, this pluralistic social science programme examines how global society has become increasingly interconnected across economic, political, cultural and environmental dimensions, and questions whether older frameworks distinguishing developed and developing regions still capture the changes observed in today's global order. Students develop the tools to investigate and report on how international and global forces shape specific issues, including international security, rights, climate change, social sustainability and the shift toward a greener economy. Typical employers include government ministries and embassies at regional, national and international level, alongside aid and development bodies, non-governmental and civil society groups, and private firms ranging from consultancies to policy-focused think-tanks, with graduates taking on roles such as country, policy, market or development analyst.
