The Certificate in Economics (Level 5) is a one-year, 120-credit-point programme run on FNU's Nasinu, Labasa, Namaka and Ba campuses, with a single major in Economics. Per the programme page, it introduces students to the banking and finance side of the Fijian economy, covering institutions such as the commercial banks, insurance companies, the Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Ministry of Finance and Planning. Students come away with an entry-level grasp of economics, banking and finance concepts, and the certificate is built as a stepping stone into higher-level study in the same courses.
The programme also carries a directed industrial-attachment component, giving students a first taste of workplace experience in the sector alongside their coursework.
