The Certificate in Social and Community Work introduces students to welfare and community-support practice across the Pacific. USP offers it as a one-year full-time qualification, or eighteen months part time, through its Continuing Education programme.
Six courses make up the certificate: two university-wide core courses, dedicated social-work and sociology courses, and a further elective from the 100-level offerings. The combination gives students an introductory grounding in both the practice and the social-science side of community welfare work.
The qualification is delivered on campus through USP's Continuing Education programme, and its part-time option gives students flexibility to combine study with work or family commitments. Graduates typically move into social-work and community-support roles with government welfare agencies and NGOs, and the qualification can also serve as a step toward further certificate, diploma or degree study at USP.
