Overview
The Licence Humanités, Lettres Classiques specialisation, is a humanities degree with a strong focus on classical languages and Antiquity. It targets students who plan to take teaching examinations for primary schools (Professorat des écoles) or secondary schools (CAPES and agrégation in Lettres classiques), and students interested in research, culture or communication, which require command of language and argument.
Students need an interest in languages, intellectual curiosity and a taste for Antiquity. Each validated course unit carries ECTS credits: 30 per semester and 180 for the full degree. Before registration, the chosen route is approved by the Antiquity studies department, which helps build a coherent plan. Some course units add active-pedagogy hours alongside in-person lectures.
