Overview
The Master Études Asiatiques is a pluridisciplinary research programme in the humanities and social sciences, created jointly by the EPHE–PSL, the École française d'Extrême-Orient and the EHESS. It trains researchers and experts who can critically analyse Asian societies in their specificities and over the long term. The programme runs as two parallel tracks from Master 1 to Master 2.
Each year combines common core teaching, specialist or research seminars and foreign-language courses. Year one ends with a preparatory dissertation, while year two requires a fuller research dissertation. Since 2025-2026 the internship can be scheduled in semesters 1, 2 or 3. Each year is worth 60 ECTS. Candidates excluded from the admissions scheme may apply through the PSL recruitment platform for second-year entry.
