The programme teaches urban planning tools, infrastructure, housing, transport and environmental policy, and the management of complex programmes. Subjects include urban planning and design, policy analysis, smart cities, urban simulation, regional and European economics, and assessment of urban transformations. Students learn to shape spatial layouts and urban policy to transform and manage cities and territories.
The award is a two-year Master of Science, a Laurea Magistrale taught in English at the Milano Leonardo campus. Entry requires a bachelor's degree in a related field such as urban planning, architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science or environmental science. A committee assesses other backgrounds case by case, and architects submit a portfolio. Graduates typically work freelance after professional examinations or in public and private bodies.
